Privacy Policy

Mauleni Chemist("we", "our", or "us") is a licensed pharmaceutical provider located in Nairobi, Kenya. This Privacy Policy explains what information we collect when you use our website and services, how we use it, and your rights in relation to that information.
By using our website or submitting information through our prescription upload form, you agree to the practices described in this policy.
1. Information We Collect
We only collect information that is necessary to process your orders and verify prescriptions. This includes:
- Prescription submissions: your name, phone number, and a photo or PDF of your prescription when you upload it through our website.
- Order activity: the product you enquired about, the quantity, and which page you ordered from. This information does not include any financial data.
- Communications: any messages you send to us via WhatsApp when following up on an order.
We do not use tracking cookies, advertising pixels, or third-party analytics tools. We do not collect payment card details; all payments are handled directly between you and our team.
2. How We Use Your Information
- To verify and process prescription orders before dispatch.
- To contact you via WhatsApp regarding your order status.
- To maintain records of prescription submissions as required by Kenyan pharmaceutical regulations.
- To improve our product catalogue and service based on aggregate, anonymised order trends.
We will never sell, rent, or share your personal information with third parties for marketing purposes.
3. Data Storage & Security
Your data is stored securely on Supabase, a cloud database provider with industry-standard encryption at rest and in transit. Prescription files are stored in a private, access-controlled storage bucket and are not publicly accessible.
Access to your personal data is restricted to authorised pharmacy staff only. We take reasonable technical and organisational measures to protect your information against unauthorised access, loss, or misuse.
4. Third-Party Services
We use the following third-party services in the course of providing our service:
- WhatsApp (Meta Platforms): used to communicate order confirmations and delivery updates. When you initiate a WhatsApp conversation, Meta's own privacy policy applies to that communication.
- Supabase: our database and file storage provider. Data is hosted in secure cloud infrastructure.
5. Data Retention
We retain prescription records for a minimum of five (5) years as required by Kenyan pharmacy regulations. Order enquiry logs are retained for up to two (2) years. You may request earlier deletion of your personal data where it is not required by law to be retained — see Section 6 below.
6. Your Rights
Under Kenyan law and general data protection principles, you have the right to:
- Request a copy of the personal data we hold about you.
- Request correction of inaccurate personal data.
- Request deletion of personal data that is no longer necessary (subject to regulatory retention requirements).
- Withdraw consent to data processing at any time, where processing is based on consent.

7. Children's Privacy
Our service is not directed at children under the age of 18. We do not knowingly collect personal information from minors. If you believe a minor has submitted information to us, please contact us so we can remove it promptly.
8. Changes to This Policy
We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. When we do, we will revise the effective date at the top of this page. Continued use of our website after changes are posted constitutes acceptance of the revised policy.
